PRECIOUS METALS IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The circulation and recycling of precious metals form an endless cycle that embodies the harmonious relationship between nature and industry.

Nemesfém Kft. revitalizes precious metals found in electronic waste and secondary raw materials — such as silver and gold — reintegrating them back into the economic cycle.

By doing so, the company reduces the need for mining, conserves natural resources, and contributes to a more sustainable future where precious metals are never wasted but continuously given new purpose.

Recycling of Precious Metals: A Complex and Precise Process:

  1. Collection and Preparation: The initial step involves collecting electronic waste and secondary raw materials. These sources may include obsolete electronic devices, industrial by-products, or various waste streams. The collected materials undergo preparation, which involves removing contaminants and sorting the materials for further processing.

  2. Shredding and Grinding: Prepared materials are shredded and ground into smaller particles. This step facilitates easier access to precious metals during subsequent processing stages.

  3. Physical and Chemical Separation: The shredded material is subjected to various physical (e.g., magnetic or gravity-based separation) and chemical processes to extract precious metals. Chemical separation involves the use of solvents and reagents to dissolve precious metals from the bulk material.
  4. Refining: Extracted precious metals are refined to achieve the desired purity levels. This stage often utilizes electrolytic methods, where metals serve as electrodes, resulting in high-purity precious metals.
  5. Remelting and Shaping: Refined precious metals are remelted and formed into various shapes such as rods, coins, or industrial-grade materials, ready for reintroduction into manufacturing.
  6. Reintegration into the Economy: Recycled precious metals are fed back into the economic cycle, where they are used to produce new products, effectively granting them an almost infinite lifecycle.
